The lustrous dark green leaves are oppositely borne, simple, and ovate to elliptic-obovate, 2 to 4" long and serrulate. The bases are broad cuneate to rounded and the apex is acuminate. A useful identification feature is the undulately winged petioles. The winged petioles are not found on Viburnum prunifolium.
