Viburnum cassinoides
Witherod viburnum

Culture: Native in cool moist areas, this species is fairly particular about its environment. It grows from full sun, with adequate moisture, to quite shady locations. It is easy to transplant and tolerates wet sites to average dry sites, but does not thrive unless the soil is acidic.

Only a few minor insect and disease pests are likely to occur.

Usage: The Witherod viburnum makes an excellent addition to the shrub border with its multiple seasons of interest as well as provide interest in naturalized situations. A similar species, Viburnum nudum, the Smooth withered, is considered the Southern equivalent and has very glossy foliage but is less cold hardy.
