Viburnum carlesii
Koreanspice viburnum

Known for its exceptionally beautifully fragrant flowers, this species features buds that are pink to red in color, with the flowers opening to white 2-3" diameter dome-shaped cymes. Lasting about seven to ten days, they begin to flower in mid to late April in central Illinois. A single flower placed into a room, immediately fills it with its delightful clove-like fragrance. The flowers have a 1/3 – ½" diameter corolla with 5 rounded petals and stamens not emerging from the corolla.
