Being a gymnosperm this species does not technically bear fruit but the naked seeds with their accompanying fleshy aril appear fruit-like. The greenish brown seeds are angled and surrounded by a red fleshy aril. While the red gelatinous seed covering is edible, the seeds contain toxic alkaloids.
