Rhodotypos scandens
Black jetbead

Unlike most plants in the Rosaceae, the black jetbead has its leaves borne in an opposite arrangement. They are from 2 1/2 to 4" long and ovate, with a doubly serrate leaf margin and acuminate apex. There is an obvious pattern to the lateral veins, appearing somewhat parallel in form.
