Extremely showy 2" diameter flowers appear in early June, and range from yellow to dark yellow to orange to deep flesh to pink and scarlet. Flowers last for 2 weeks and occur late in the spring season when most other rhododendrons are not in flower. The flowers are comprised of a 1/2"-long corolla and 1"-long lobes forming funnel-shaped flowers with 5 long exerted stamens. They occur at the ends of branches in clusters of at least 5 just after the leaves have emerged. Unfortunately the flowers have very little fragrance.
