Quercus palustris
Pin oak

Small compared to most other oaks, the 1/2" acorns are nearly rounded with a short abrupt point and a shallow cap. The fruit matures in two seasons and is often grouped together on the previous year's growth. Small 1/8" one-year acorns are borne on short lateral stems.
