Quercus muehlenbergii
Chinquapin oak

Alternate, simple and oblong-lanceolate to oblong in shape, the 5 to 8" long leaves have a wavy margin with shallow and blunt-rounded lobes or slightly sharper coarse teeth. The numerous lateral veins each terminate as one of the rounded points on the margin. They are glossy and dark green above and light green and lightly pubescent below. They are longer, narrower and slightly more sharply toothed than those of Quercus prinus, and more likely to be lanceolate rather than obovate.
