Quercus bicolor
Swamp white oak

Imbricate, dark brown and with a rounded apex, the buds are clustered at branch ends and often have thread-like stipules within the cluster. The 1/8" buds are darker and lack the grayish pubescence found on buds of Quercus macrocarpa.
