Culture: This species prefers well drained soils and sunny sites. It should be transplanted balled and burlapped. Patience is required for the ornamental effect of the bark to develop. In addition, the species is slow growing. Generally this is a fairly trouble-free species but can have problems typical of other pines.
Usage: Makes an excellent specimen tree, and can be particularly striking if the specimen is older and used as a focal point.
