Picea omorika
Serbian spruce

Culture: The Serbian spruce prefers deep, fertile, moist but well drained soils, but will tolerate urban environments and semi-shade. In general, it is more adaptable than it is given credit for.

Subject to aphids, spruce budworm, and borers. Flint reports some winter burn may occur in zones 4b and 5a in some winters.

Usage: This species makes an excellent specimen plant for its rich dark green foliage with contrasting white undersides and spire-like form.
