Picea abies
Norway spruce

Small, monoecious and not showy.

Male flowers are catkin-like and are usually borne axillary on shoots of the previous season's growth. Initially emerging pinkish red, they turn yellow-brown as they mature.

Female flowers are usually borne terminally and are purplish in color.
