Paulownia tomentosa
Royal paulownia

The lateral buds are small, indistinct, brown, and sunken into the stems. The flower buds, on the other hand, are highly visible 1/4" pubescent tan colored ovals borne in large 6-8" terminal panicles. The large flower buds make a distinctive identification characteristic.
