The large dull to slightly glossy blue-green evergreen leaves are 12-16" long and pinnately compound with 9-15 spiny broad-ovate leaflets. The thick and stiff leaflets are 2 - 4 1/2" long and have 1-4 spines along each side of the margin plus a terminal spine.
