One of the "Little Girl Hybrids", this large shrub or small tree has showy reddish purple flowers with 8-10 tepals in mid spring. This selection was one of a number of similar cultivars bred at the US National Arboretum to combine the pink-purple flower color and later flowering time of the lily magnolia with the ornamental characteristics of the star magnolia.
