Koelreuteria paniculata
Panicled golden raintree

The fruit is a 3-valved papery triangular capsule about 1 1/2 to 2" long that contains hard black seeds. The papery exterior is green in late August, becoming reddish and finally brown to persist through the winter. The capsules are slightly to moderately effective regardless of their color.
