Fraxinus pennsylvanica
Green ash

A highly adaptable, fast-growing native tree, the green ash is popular for its tolerance of adverse conditions. It is widely used as a shade tree, especially in the colder climates. Cultivars are probably best; plants grown from seed show great variability in fall color and habit, and may be a disappointment.

Habit:Oval to oval-rounded, lower branches droop, trunk often crooked
Size:50-60' high
Color:Dark green
Texture:Medium-fine
Hardiness:Zone 2a USDA
Habitat:Nova Scotia - Florida - Texas - Saskatchewan
Family:Oleaceae
