Crataegus phaenopyrum

Crataegus phaenopyrum
Washington hawthorn

The latest of the common hawthorns to flower, this species produces 1/2" 5-petaled white flowers that have pink anthers and appear in showy corymbs in early June. The flowers exude a fragrance that is less disagreeable than other hawthorns. The flower display occurs with the leaves and is moderately effective.
