Cotinus obovatus
American smoketree

A small deciduous tree grown for its showy smoke-like inflorescence and outstanding fall color.

Habit:Oval to rounded small tree or very large shrub
Size:20-30' high
Color:Dark green to slightly bluish green in summer changing to bright orange, red and purple in the fall.
Texture:Medium in leaf, medium-coarse in flower
Hardiness:Borderline 5a/5b USDA
Habitat:Native to the southern Appalachian mountains of Tennessee into Alabama and Texas
