Summersweet clethra

Alternate, simple and obovate-oblong, the 1 1/2 to 4" long leaves are sharply serrate on the apical 1/2 to 2/3rds of the blade, entire near the base and glabrous and slightly lustrous above. The apices are acute to slightly acuminate and the venation is slightly impressed. Pubescence may or may not be present on the undersides of the leaves.
