Evergreen, 1/2 to 1" needle-like bluish-green leaves are borne in whorls on short spur-like stems. The presence of a small translucent spine at the tip can be seen with a hand lens. The needles are about as high as they are wide and are shorter than those of Cedrus deodara and Cedrus libani.
