Devil's walking stick, Hercules' club

Stout and gray to tan colored, the coarse stems are each armed with sharp, triangular, 1/8 to 1/4" tan prickles. The large leaf scars and prickles are distinctive and useful in identification. The coarse stems range in size from 1/2 to 1" in diameter.
