Aesculus x carnea
Red horsechestnut

The 4-8" long panicles are borne upright above the foliage and range in color from pink to red and flesh-tone, opening in mid-May. Nurserymen are selecting the deeper red forms, but the light pink ones are equally or more beautiful in my opinion. A mass planting of this species along the water at the Hague in the Netherlands is a beautiful sight in flower.
