Acer palmatum
Japanese maple

This small, broad-rounded tree has interesting leaves and a multitude of cultivars selected for unique foliage color and variegations. It is often used in Japanese gardens and as a bonsai specimen.

Habit:Broad-rounded, low-branching with horizontal layers
Size:20 to 25' high
Color:Color varies with cultivar from various shades of green to yellow, purple, and others
Texture:Medium-fine to very fine for cutleaf forms
Hardiness:Zone 5b USDA to 6b, depending on cultivar
Habitat:Japan - China - Korea
Family:Aceraceae
