| Abies veitchii Veitch firThe evergreen leaves are 1/2 - 1 1/2" long, with a glossy dark green upper surface and two prominent white stomatal bands on the grooved lower surface. The leaves are directed slightly forward and upward on the branch in two ranks, and have a notched and truncate apex. The contrast between the dark green upper surface and the lower white stomatal bands is striking. When compared to Abies balsamea, the needles are wider and have stomatal bands that are much more distinct. |
